Scientology and Blog Catalog

Now to the best of my knowledge I have never mentioned Scientology on this blog before. Truth is I know very little about it other than Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman are practioners. I did however, read L Ron Hubbard’s Battlefield Earth when I was a kid.

Now I have been a member of Blog Catalog since fairly early in my blogging life but I have to say I hadn’t noticed a related blogs section on the right hand side of this blogs page before today. The three blogs this widget says are related to this one are –

A matter of perspective which is a fellow Aussie blog so I can see some connection there.

Palo Alto Scientology Mission and

Soma Scientology Mission

I for the life of me can’t really see any connection to those last two. So I invite any of you to find a link or any readers who also happen to be Scientologists to perhaps explain what they may see as a link. Secondly, if you’re a member of Blog Catalog, what are your “related blogs”?

The best place in the world to learn about Scientology these days is at Wikipedia. The article on Scientology there shows both the good and the bad about the organization. Go to Scientology’s own site and you’ll only get the good; go to the many critical sites out there and you’ll only get the bad.

Glad to see you’re a bit like mine Beth in being obscure.

Paisley – at least yours are writing blogs and that makes a lot of sense.

Either I’m not cool enough to have a related blog, or something is just messed up.

Stuff like that is usually controlled by some weird computer program. Probably the same one that delivers google ads to my site that have nothing to do with anything that I have ever written about or that any of my readers would be interested in.

When I was in college there was a kid in one of my classes who grew up as a member of Scientology. His parents left the “organization”, and he had some pretty interesting stories about what transpired upon and after their departure. Pretty scary stuff.

Actually, I don’t think Nicole Kidman was ever a practicing Scientologist. I think that was a bone of contention in that marriage. One of them, at least. Of course, I don’t know either of them personally, but I have read that on a few occasions.

Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley are Scientologists. I remember reading once that Priscilla sent Elvis a copy of Dianetics (sp?), and some more information on Scientology, in an effort to persuade Elvis to sign on. He wasn’t interested because he said it was “all head and no heart”. I’ve read quite a bit about their beliefs and practices, and I would have to say I couldn’t imagine a better description.

Even more fun than going to Wikipedia to learn about Scientology is to Google “Scientology Celebrities”.
    Heck – here’s the link:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Scientologist_celebrities
I have no opinion regarding this whacked out religion, their absurd teachings and they amounts of money spent to get into the inner circle of idiots. No opinion at all.
    Later.

I can’t answer why my related blogs would be completely relevant while others are off the mark, but it would be interesting to find out what the criteria is.

They are crazy! and yes, they are stalkers! My husband dabbled in Scientology while living in CA, 14 years ago. Recently we have been getting dozens of high quality print, DVD and CD material in the mail from them and constant phone calls. I was friendly, interested and nice for 3 months, but made it clear we didn’t want to buy any of the new “tech” material they are selling.

they don’t take no for an answer. They won’t quit calling. They don’t listen.

They are stalking us and making my life very frustrating.

    That, is NOT a church!
